Zaim endeavors to highlight political and societal issues while also conveying personal experiences. He uses the canvas to convey a straightforward and uncomplicated vision - “Life is all about commitment to your family, society, country and God.”- Zaim D.

Jaguh Sabung depicts four children bathed in sunlight, in a scene where two roosters are in preparation to entangle in a cockfight, facing each other, but don’t actually fight in the painting. The artist relayed that he used children as his subject to depict the happiness and joy of their life, these are reminiscent of Zaim’s own childhood and his personal memories. The clear usage of figures and direct iconographies makes the artwork relatable and creates nostalgia for Malaysia in the past.
